SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – Two animals died in an early morning fire Thursday in the Garden Hill community of Sevier County, according to officials with Sevier County Fire Rescue.
Crews were dispatched to the fire just after 3:00 a.m., where they arrived to find a structure already engulfed in flames, spokesperson Tyler Basler said.
While firefighters were able to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading, Basler confirmed that two animals inside the structure were unable to escape.
No people were injured in the incident, and officials said no nearby homes or buildings were threatened during the response.
Several fire departments and emergency agencies assisted at the scene, including Waldens Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Pigeon Forge Fire Department, Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, Caton’s Chapel Richardson Cove Volunteer Fire Department, the City of Sevierville Fire Department, Northview Kodak Volunteer Fire Department, Pittman Center Volunteer Fire Department, the Blount County Fire Protection District, and the Tennessee Division of Forestry.
“Sevier County officials extend their appreciation to all assisting agencies for their coordinated response and continued support,” Basler said.
