LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — Lenoir City is set to welcome a new Lowe’s home improvement store after city leaders approved the project’s site plan, marking another major commercial development for the growing community.
Mayor Tony Akins announced the news in a Facebook post Sunday, revealing that the site plan for the new Lowe’s received approval on July 7.
Akins called the project an important investment for the city and said it reflects continued economic growth in Lenoir City.
“I am excited to announce that Lowe’s is coming to Lenoir City,” Akins said. “This is a great investment in our community. Every time a new business chooses to invest in Lenoir City, it strengthens our local economy and helps generate tax revenue that can help keep taxes lower for our citizens.”
The mayor also hinted that more developments are on the way, although details have not yet been released.
“This is just one of several exciting projects on the horizon,” Akins said. “While I’m not able to share details on the others just yet, I look forward to making more announcements in the near future.”
The planned Lowe’s would become the second major hardware store serving Lenoir City residents, expanding options for homeowners, contractors and businesses in the area.
City officials have not yet announced a construction timeline or anticipated opening date for the store.
The announcement comes as Lenoir City continues to experience commercial growth, with local leaders emphasizing economic development and business recruitment efforts aimed at expanding the city’s tax base and creating additional shopping opportunities for residents.
Further details about the project are expected as development plans move forward.
