Report: LB Correa requests trade from Titans

Tennessee Titans linebacker Kamalei Correa requested a trade after being made inactive for the team’s most recent game, according to a published report Wednesday.

NFL Network reported that the Titans will honor Correa’s request or release him outright if they can’t find a willing trade partner.

Correa, 26, was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Sept. 30 and came off the list Tuesday. He made two tackles in three games this season for the Titans (4-0), who posted a 42-16 win over the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday.

A second-round pick by Baltimore in 2016, Correa was traded to Tennessee for a 2019 sixth-round selection before the start of the 2018 season. He likely expected more playing time when he signed a one-year contract in April with a base salary of $2.25 million. The contract could have been worth up to $3.5 million with incentives.

He set career highs with 37 tackles and five sacks in 16 games with the Titans in 2019.

Correa has 77 tackles, 8.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 57 games (13 starts) with the Ravens (2016-17) and Titans.
