Rep. Gosar’s Siblings Call for His Expulsion From Congress

Two siblings of Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., on Wednesday say they think he should be booted from office for his support of election fraud claims — with a sister saying he’d gone “from pretty right wing to extremist” over the last 10 years.

In an interview on CNN’s “New Day” show, Gosar’s brother Tim and sister Jennifer said it was time he was expelled from office.

“I think sometimes we lose sight of what we’ve been taught and what’s important in life. And Paul’s lost sight of what character and integrity mean,” Tim Gosar said, adding his brother “peddles in rumor. He peddles in propaganda, and he lies consistently to the American people and to his constituents.”

Rep. Gosar has been one of the lawmakers identified by far-right activist Ali Alexander as being instrumental in helping plan the Jan. 6 siege at the Capitol, The Washington Post reported.

Alexander has identified himself as the individual who came up with the idea of storming the Capitol and alleged that he was regularly in contact with Gosar, as well as GOP Reps. Andy Biggs, also of Arizona, and Mo Brooks of Alabama. A spokesman for Biggs denied the claim to the Post. Brooks issued a statement saying he bore no responsibility for the riot.

Gosar’s sister said she had just one thing to say to him.

“The message to my brother is that he must resign, if not be expelled from Congress,” Jennifer Gosar said.

“To be honest with you, the point in time to reach my brother, I think that’s been passed. I know that at this point, the most that we can do as citizens, as constituents, as the public demand that the members of Congress involved be held accountable. And that includes expulsion.

“To my brother, I think the time is up,” she continued. “It’s time to acknowledge the hurt and the hate. And honestly, I don’t know if that message will reach him. I hope it does.”

She said she has a message for Congress and the American people, too.

“It is time to really stand up and condemn this in the strongest possible terms,” she said. “And to hold people accountable.”

It’s not the first time the representative’s family has spoken out against him. In 2018, six of Paul’s siblings put out a campaign ad against his reelection in Arizona’s 4th Congressional District.
