KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — Veterans across East Tennessee will have an opportunity next month to receive free legal advice from local attorneys during a special clinic in Knoxville.
The Knoxville Bar Association (KBA), in partnership with Legal Aid of East Tennessee, is hosting a Free Legal Advice Clinic for Veterans on August 12 from noon until 2 p.m. at the Knox County Public Defender’s Office.
The clinic is designed to connect veterans with attorneys who can provide guidance on a wide range of legal matters at no cost.
According to the Knoxville Bar Association, volunteer attorneys will be available to discuss issues including:
- Landlord-tenant disputes
- Veterans benefits
- Bankruptcy
- Criminal defense
- Consumer protection
- Contract disputes
- Estate planning
- Child support
- Personal injury claims
- General legal concerns
Organizers emphasized that while attorneys will offer legal advice and consultations, the event is not a wills clinic, and no wills will be drafted during the session.
The clinic is intended to help veterans better understand their legal options and connect them with resources that may assist with ongoing legal challenges.
For veterans who cannot attend in person, a telephone clinic option is also available. To preregister for the phone consultation service, veterans can contact Legal Aid of East Tennessee at 865-637-0484.
The August clinic is part of an ongoing effort by the Knoxville Bar Association and Legal Aid of East Tennessee to provide legal assistance to the veteran community. Additional clinics are scheduled for October 14 and December 9.
Organizers encourage veterans seeking legal guidance to take advantage of the free service and register early if they plan to participate by phone.
