Knox County, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – The Knox County Sheriff’s Office has officially closed its investigation into the fire that damaged Cheers at Choto earlier this summer.
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Unit, the cause of the June 10, 2026 structure fire at Cheers at Choto has been ruled undetermined.
Investigators said they conducted a thorough examination of the scene, reviewed all available evidence and completed follow-up investigative efforts in an attempt to determine what sparked the blaze.
Despite those efforts, officials said they were unable to identify a definitive cause.
Extensive Investigation Conducted
The Fire Investigation Unit said investigators examined physical evidence from the scene and pursued additional investigative leads following the fire.
After completing those efforts, investigators determined there was insufficient evidence to conclusively establish how the fire started.
As a result, the fire has been officially classified as having an undetermined cause.
Case Now Closed
The sheriff’s office announced that the investigation has now been closed.
Officials did not indicate that any criminal activity was discovered during the investigation and did not announce any additional investigative actions.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation to agencies that assisted during the investigation and thanked members of the public for their patience as investigators worked to determine what caused the fire.
“The Knox County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the assistance of our partner agencies throughout the investigation and thanks the public for its patience while investigators worked to determine the cause of the fire,” the agency said in a statement.
Cheers at Choto suffered significant damage in the June 10 fire, prompting a lengthy investigation by fire officials. With the cause now classified as undetermined, the case has been formally closed.
