KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT)– A woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading Sevierville police on a vehicle pursuit Wednesday morning that involved several crashes and ended in Pigeon Forge.
According to the Sevierville Police Department, the incident began around 10:14 a.m. when officers responded to a report of domestic violence on Berry Trail Drive.
When officers arrived, they found the female suspect sitting inside a vehicle. Police said the woman refused commands to exit the vehicle and instead drove away, nearly striking an officer in the process.
A short time later, officers located the suspect on Middle Creek Road and attempted what police described as a high-risk traffic stop.
Authorities said the suspect put the vehicle in reverse, struck a Sevierville Police Department patrol vehicle and fled the scene again.
Due to what officers described as reckless driving behavior, supervisors authorized the use of a PIT maneuver, a tactic designed to safely bring a fleeing vehicle to a stop.
The pursuit continued until the suspect’s vehicle was ultimately stopped by a Sevierville police vehicle on Veterans Boulevard in Pigeon Forge.
During the chase, police said the woman crashed into at least three other vehicles.
Despite the collisions and pursuit, officials reported that no injuries occurred.
The Sevierville Police Department said charges are pending and are expected to include domestic assault, reckless endangerment and evading arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing.
