GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — A Greeneville man has died after falling from a truck Monday morning, according to the Greeneville Police Department.
Police said officers were called to North Main Street around 8 a.m. after a reported fall from a vehicle.
According to the report, a driver told officers he and 85-year-old Gordon Williams were on their way to a church when he realized he had forgotten something at home.
The driver said Williams planned to ride back with him. While attempting to make a U-turn, Williams reportedly unbuckled his seatbelt and opened the door, believing he was being dropped off at the church.
During the turn, Williams fell from the truck.
He was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Police have not released any additional information.
