CLINTON, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — A 9-year-old girl has died following a house fire late Thursday night in Clinton, according to police.
Emergency crews were called to a home in the 400 block of West Broad Street around 10:50 p.m. after reports of smoke coming from the residence.
When firefighters arrived, they entered the home and found the child inside. She was immediately brought outside, where officers and Anderson County EMS performed life-saving measures.
The girl was transported to a hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Investigators with the Clinton Police Department say the fire has been determined to be accidental and began in the kitchen.
