PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Gatlinburg Police Department said an attempted murder suspect was taken into custody on Friday after being spotted traveling in the area.
The Pigeon Forge Police Department said the juvenile suspect was seen traveling in the McCarter Hollow area. The suspect is charged with attempted first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
According to GPD, the charges are related to a shooting in Hertford County, North Carolina earlier this week.
A car that was connected to the suspect was pinged by an automatic license plate reader in Gatlinburg, GPD said.
GPD said officers later found and took the suspect into custody without incident on Mills Park Road.
According to police, there is no immediate threat to the public.
The suspect’s identity has not been released.
