Maryville, TN (Story courtesy of WVLT) – Blount Memorial Hospital is laying off 85 people, according to a WARN Notice filed with the state Tuesday.
Marketing Communications Manager for Prisma Health and Blount Memorial Hospital Josh West said in a statement to WVLT that the hospital is contracting its Food and Nutrition Services and Environmental Services effective May 1.
“The vast majority of team members involved with this change have already completed the initial onboarding steps to become Compass Healthcare employees and will remain part of the Blount Memorial team,” West said in a statement.
Compass Healthcare and Prisma Health are working with affected staff members with opportunities to become Compass Healthcare employees at Blount Memorial Hospital, West said.
Blount Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in the county, according to the Tennessee Hospital Association. Prisma Health, which runs the hospital, says the facility has over 2,700 staff members and 304 beds.
