KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – Two people are facing charges after a Monday car break-in spree in West Knoxville, according to court documents obtained by WVLT News.
The case involves Michale White and Chandler Tate, who police said burglarized cars at the Meadowood Apartments complex on Pleasant Ridge Road. Officers were on the lookout for the two suspects, the documents said, when the two men ran.
The responding officers were able to track Tate down — he was hiding in the trunk of a car with other people in it — but couldn’t find White at first, according to the documents.

“Officers began to canvas the area to locate Michale White who was still outstanding at this time, doing so officers located multiple vehicles with their windows smashed out,” the documents said.
Tracking the cars’ owners down, officers said a victim told them their handgun had been taken from their car.
When he was detained, the documents said, Tate had a window punch, black glove and cash in his pockets. The documents added that officers found three handguns, including what they believe was the stolen handgun and other stolen out of Chattanooga, inside the car.
White was later found at a gas station.
