Roane Co, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – Roane County has created a senior property tax relief program, offering qualifying residents a rebate to offset property tax costs.
County Commissioner Ben Wilson said the program is part of a broader effort to keep taxes low, starting with residents he described as ‘most vulnerable.’
To qualify, residents must be 65 or older, have a fixed income and have lived in the county for 10 consecutive years.
The county program will match the state’s existing tax relief program. Residents already enrolled in the state program receive approximately $120 in rebate funds.
Residents who qualify for the state program automatically qualify for the county program.
To enroll, residents should go to the county trustee’s office to sign up.
