KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – A Knoxville man is facing charges after trying to sell a stolen handgun at the Clinton Highway expo center, according to a police report obtained by WVLT News.
The case centers on Keithy Cobb. According to the report, two Knoxville Police Department detectives saw him trying to sell a GLOCK 43, a 9mm handgun.
The detectives were able to tell the gun had been stolen in 2023 by running its serial number, which prompted them to detain Cobb and charge him with theft of a firearm.
Those detectives also spoke to the victim, the report said, who said the gun — valued around $700 — had been stolen from his son’s car.
Gun shows have long been a focus for law enforcement.
