Sevier County, TN (WOKI/WVLT) – The Tennessee Army National Guard rescues a hiker in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Emergency crews responded to a hiker who was suffering from “severe cold-weather injuries” and needed “rapid transport” to a hospital yesterday (Tues) morning.
Crews left Joint Base McGhee-Tyson and were able to find the injured hiker at the Double Springs Gap Shelter, a remote area of the park south of Gatlinburg near the North Carolina border.
After rendering aid on the ground and in the Blackhawk helicopter, the hiker was flown to therescues a hiker for treatment.
The hiker’s condition has not been released.
