Maryville, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – Officer Justin Brown has been released from the hospital.
He was critically injured in a crash last month during a security motorcade for Vice President JD Vance.
Brown was seriously injured when his police motorcycle collided with a state trooper’s car near Merrit Road on East Lamar Alexander Parkway on November 14 when Vance flew to East Tennessee for a fundraiser at Blackberry Farm.
Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp says Brown is continuing to make steady progress, adding that he was released from the hospital Saturday afternoon and transferred to a rehabilitation center in Knoxville to continue receiving treatment for the next several weeks.
After the incident, the Maryville Police Department approved a fundraiser for Brown through Blue Line Tennessee. As of Monday, nearly $19,000 has been raised.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
