NASHVILLE, TN (Story Courtesy of WVLT / WSMV) – A new study has found how much people would need to earn to “live comfortably” in cities across the U.S.
The study from Upgraded Points reports that the average single American would need at least $106,745 to live comfortably.
So, what does “live comfortably” look like? According to the study, living comfortably includes looking at income for the following factors:
- Neccessities (50%)
- Discretionary Spending (30%)
- Savings/Debt (20%)
Where did Tennessee land? According to the study, the following income is needed to “live comfortably” in the Volunteer State:
- One adult: $96,233
- Two adults: $125,862
- Two adults, one kid: $165,380
- Two adults, two kids: $190,692
- Two adults, three kids: $224,656
“Hawaii, New York, California, and Massachusetts top the list, with single adults needing over $130,000 per year to live comfortably. For a 2-parent household with 3 children, the income required exceeds $330,000 in all 4 states,” the study shared.
