The Salvation Army of Blount County has launched its first Giving Tree project to support those experiencing homelessness in East Tennessee.
Those interested in giving back this holiday season are invited to pick up a tag from the decorated trees at the Blount County Public Library (508 N Cusick St.) or Southern Grace Coffee Co. (312 Tedford St.).
That tag will have a gift request on it, which can be brought to The Salvation Army at the John 3:16 Outreach Building (1414 Jefferson Ave.).
“This project is about more than gifts—it’s about helping our neighbors feel seen, valued, and loved by their community,” said Corps Administrator Bobbie Jo Barnes. “We believe that through simple acts of generosity, we can share the true spirit of the season and reflect the love of Christ.”
Suggested gifts include:
Sleeping Bags
Clothing
Shoes
Socks
Gift Cards
Toiletries
Medical Supplies
Hot Hands
Coats
Hats
Gloves
Backpacks
Insulated Coffee Mug
Reading Glasses
Flash Light
Bibles
The group is asking for gifts to be delivered by December 19.
