Knox County, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – A man convicted of sexually assaulting three children will be spending decades behind bars.
Knox County District Attorney General Charme Allen says 71 year-old Jessie Hurst was convicted of three counts of rape of a child and various other charges.
Yesterday (Thursday), he was sentenced to serve 60 years in the Tennessee Department of Correction.
DA Allen’s office says during a two-day trial in August, assistant district attorneys explained that one of the victims said Hurst had sexually assaulted her multiple times since 2015, when she was 11 years old. An investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office found there were two additional victims, who said they were also sexually assaulted by Hurst when they were 12 and 13 years old.
“Three brave victims came forward to hold their abuser accountable and ensure that no other children can be harmed by this offender,” DA Allen said.
According to DA Allen’s office, during the trial, Hurst testified that he did not molest the victims. The jury then found him guilty on all charges.
