Maryville, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – Maryville College’s “Bridges to Wellbeing” project is the latest to be funded through Tennessee’s Opioid Abatement Grant program.
The $500,000 project aims to curb drug dependency by offering students a different kind of counseling to cope with college stressors.
The Counseling Center along with internal/external partners will provide several options to help each student find their own path to manage the stress of college and in life.
They will receive just over $561,000 over a three-year period, starting in January.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention saw 105,000 overdose deaths in 2023, 76% due to opioids.
