Knoxville, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – A teen is charged with threatening to commit an act of mass violence after threatening to shoot himself and others over Snapchat.
Knoxville Police say 18 year-old Gavin Smith, a Gibbs High School student, spoke with two witnesses that said Smith had made threats to harm himself and others in class earlier Tuesday morning.
After reviewing Smith’s Snapchat, detectives found evidence of him saying he was going to “shoot up the school.”
Smith admitted to making threats, including to bomb the school.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 3, and his bond is set at $20,000.
