BUCKSNORT, TN (Story courtesy of WVLT / WSMV) – Emergency responders are searching for survivors after an explosion at a Tennessee explosives manufacturer in Hickman County on Friday morning.
An official with Humphrey County Emergency Management said at least 19 are missing and multiple others have been hospitalized. A separate source confirmed to WSMV4 that one is possibly dead.
The Hickman County Sheriff’s Office confirmed an explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems near Bucksnort.
Officials are expected to host a press conference at about 11 a.m. with updates on the emergency response.
According to its website, Accurate Energetic Systems, LLC was established in 1980 and, “is dedicated to the development, manufacture, handling, and storage of high-quality energetic products utilized in both defense and commercial markets.”

Family members are asked by EMA officials to report to Gate 3.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation closed SR 230, also known as Tanyard Branch Road, north of I-40 in the Bucksnort area.
In 2020, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development announced an AES expansion in McEwen, near Bucksnort.
That site is where AES operates a full lab and test range, according to TDECD.
