On Thursday, October 2, 2025, numerous agencies will participate in a full-scale emergency drill hosted at Dow Chemical on Dale Avenue.
The exercise will simulate a chemical incident on Dow’s property requiring a multi-agency response. While the scenario is not real, it is designed to test emergency response plans and strengthen communication and coordination among participating agencies.
People living or working near Dow Knoxville may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and activity in the area during the drill. Unless otherwise notified, this is for training purposes only and not a real emergency.
The following agencies or organizations are expected to participate in the exercise: Dow Chemical, Knoxville Fire Department, Knoxville Police Department, Knoxville-Knox County Emergency Management, Knox County Emergency Communications, American Medical Response, University of Tennessee Office of Emergency Management, Knox County Health Department, Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, University of Tennessee Medical Center, Methodist Medical Center and Turkey Creek Medical Center.
The drill is part of efforts to improve safety and preparedness in Knoxville.
