Madisonville, TN (WOKI) A Monroe County man is charged with murder after an eight-month-long investigation.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says that deputies had been called to a shooting on January 30 of this year at the home at 204 Highway 72 East. Upon arrival, MCSO says they found 29-year-old Dennis Jenkins Jr. had been shot in the head; he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division lead the months-long investigation into the death with help from Madisonville Police Department.
MCSO officials say that following the investigation, and after consultation with the district attorney’s office, detectives issued a warrant for 50-year-old Gerald Poff for first degree murder.
Officials say that both Poff and the victim lived at the Monroe County home.
Poff has been booked into the Monroe County Jail on a charge of first degree murder.
