CLINTON, Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – The Clinton Police Department says two people have been arrested following a stabbing in the parking lot of a restaurant on Tuesday.
Officers responded to El Indio Mexican Bar and Grill for reports of a stabbing on Sept. 23. CPD says when officers arrived, they learned there was an argument between David Shifflett, 44, Tyler Novak, 27 and a 33-year-old man.
The men then went outside where police say the argument turned into a fight, during which, Novak stabbed the 33-year-old twice with a box cutter.
According to CPD, Shifflett and Novak got into a car and drove off, heading westbound on N. Charles Seivers Blvd. Police attempted a traffic stop but the suspects kept driving through a parking lot and down an embankment before stopping on railroad tracks. They then got out and ran away on foot.
CPD says officers chased after the suspects and eventually arrested them without incident near the intersection of N. Charles Seivers Blvd and Commerce Street.
Shifflett and Novak are in custody in the Anderson County Detention Facility and are facing the following charges:

- Driving Under the Influence
- Evading Arrest
- Reckless Driving
- Disorderly Conduct
- Reckless Endangerment
- Novak
- Aggravated Assault
- Evading Arrest
- Reckless Driving
- Disorderly Conduct
- Public Intoxication
According to CPD, the victim was treated at an area hospital and has been released.
