KNOXVILLE – Motorists traveling on I-275 in Knox County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will have a temporary impact on traffic.
In anticipation of the complete closure of the I-275 bridge over Elm Street and Bernard Avenue this weekend, intermittent lane closures will occur in this area beginning Tuesday, September 23, through Thursday, September 25.
These lane closures will take place nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and will allow crews to safely remove portable barrier railing, and to prepare the median barrier wall for texture coating.
The third and final weekend closure of I-275 will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 26, and will end by 6 a.m. on Monday, September 29.

This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.
As always, drivers are reminded to use all motorist information tools wisely and “Know Before You Go!” by checking travel conditions before leaving for your destination. Drivers should never tweet, text, or talk on a cell phone while behind the wheel.
