An investigation is underway following an accident on I-40 West in Knox County which shut down the interstate for almost six hours.
It happened near the Farragut exit was closed for hours, Rural Metro Fire’s Jeffery Bagwell says a car fell from a tractor-trailer causing a crash and fire.
No one was hurt in the crash, which happened around midnight at the nearby truck scales, but it did cause a fire which prompted hours of cleanup.
The interstate wasn’t fully reopened until almost 6 a.m. this morning (Thursday).
