The Museum of Appalachia’s annual Fall Heritage Days start next month and it invites people to observe Southern Appalachian traditions.
Interactive activities from crosscut sawing, spelling bees, candle dipping and classic games aim to offer engaging ways to learn about the daily lives of early settlers.
Guests can watch demonstrations like corn shucking, basket-weaving, butter-churning and more. The event will also feature blacksmiths and woodworkers showcasing their craft as well as local musicians and food trucks.
Admission includes a tour of the museum’s farm and village, which contains nearly three-dozen historic log structures, exhibit halls filled with thousands of Southern Appalachian artifacts, working gardens and farm animals.
