KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – Dalton Swanger, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy injured during the filming of “On Patrol: Live” has returned to duty after a ten-month break.
The sheriff’s office made the announcement Friday, his first day. “We are grateful to have you in our blue family and thankful for God’s protection!” a post from KCSO said.
The deputy was hurt on June 21, 2025. Christopher Michael Hensly, a 44-year-old out of Powell, is accused of hitting Swanger in the head with either a brick or rock. The injury sent Swanger to the hospital in critical condition, where he remained for quite a long time.
Swanger’s return comes just a few months after Swanger underwent a complex surgery — a cricotracheal resection — that removed a damaged part of his trachea.
