Knoxville, TN (WOKI) – An RV driver died following a crash that happened on I-640 Saturday afternoon.
At around 2:25 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, Knoxville Police Department officers were dispatched to a crash on I-640 East at Gap Road, where an RV towing a pickup truck had overturned near the exit ramp. The driver, an adult man, died at the scene. The passenger, an adult woman, was transported to the UT Medical Center with what appeared to be minor injuries.
Based on witness statements, it is believed that the RV attempted to change lanes when it was possibly cut off by another vehicle. The RV reportedly swerved to avoid the other car, lost control and then flipped over in the grassy area adjacent to the exit ramp.
The crash remains under active investigation by KPD crash reconstruction personnel. The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time.
