KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – Former Knox County trustee staff member Jason Dobbins has pleaded guilty to an official misconduct charge, according to the Knox County District Attorney’s Office.
He was in court Thursday and is being prosecuted by the Blount County District Attorney’s Office.
Dobbins, along with Knox County Property Assessor William Ballard, were charged last year in a case connected to allegations that the trustee’s office was misusing taxpayer dollars.
Justin Biggs, the trustee himself, has avoided indictment and is the person who fired Dobbins.
The trustee’s office is responsible for a large chunk of the county’s funding. For instance, the office collects all state and county property taxes, disburses county funds and invests idle county dollars.
