ROANE CO., Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – Zackary Lowe’s bond hearing drew supporters from Roane County as he faces first-degree murder charges in the death of 44-year-old Elton Richardson.
Lowe is accused of shooting and stabbing Richardson just off Decatur Highway in Ten Mile in January.
The prosecution said Richardson dropped a location pin to Lowe. Lowe and Richardson then got into an altercation, leading Lowe to allegedly kill Richardson.
Matthew Rogers and Austin Hays, representing Lowe, argued Lowe is a good person.
“This is not somebody that had motive to kill someone for money or revenge or anything,” Rogers said.
“I was naive to think that all my victims would be the Mary Poppins of the world, and that’s something we just don’t encounter. But that doesn’t give Mr. Lowe the right to go commit vigilante justice,” a prosecutor said.
A Facebook group called “Standing Together to Support Zackary Lowe” has 9,500 followers and drew support from the community for the hearing.
Rachel Branam, Lowe’s cousin, said she is grateful for the support.
Judge Dennis Humphrey of Roane County gave Lowe a $250,000 bond.
