Knoxville, TN (WOKI) – An investigation is underway following a West Knoxville apartment fire.
Knoxville Fire department crews were called to Greenbrier Ridge Apartments last night (Sunday) for an apartment that was on fire and spreading to other units. There were occupants trapped on the third floor that had jumped from their balcony.
Crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the building. With the windy conditions, the fire spread rapidly. More than half of the building is a total loss. 10 units in the building are uninhabitable. 15 people, 2 dogs and 1 cat have been displaced
Three occupants were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. One dog was taken to the emergency vet.
The water on the road froze and salt crews were called to the scene to treat it.
