Knoxville Police say a man has died after he was hit by a car in a McDonald’s parking lot.
Officers responded to reports of an incident involving a truck and the man in the parking lot of the McDonald’s on Millertown Pike Thanksgiving morning.
Officers spoke with the driver, who said he was driving through the parking lot and trying to avoid another car in a tight space when he hit the man. He stopped immediately after the incident.
The pedestrian, identified as 78-year-old Ronnie Day, was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.
An investigation into the incident remains ongoing. No charges have been filed at this time.
