POWELL, Tenn. (Story Courtesy of WVLT) – With Christmas only 25 days away, families are already searching for the perfect tree at local farms.
The Childers family continued their Black Friday tradition of picking and cutting a Christmas tree at Enchanted Christmas Tree Farm in Powell. The family has made tree selection a bonding experience with their young sons.
“This has just been something we have been wanting to do with the boys and they have had a blast running through the Christmas tree farm and getting to know everybody here,” Matthew Childers said.
The Childers family has developed a unique strategy for choosing their tree — letting their little boys make the final decision.
After cutting and preparing the tree, the family plans to spend Saturday decorating while watching Christmas movies and football.
Enchanted Christmas Tree Farm features about 1,500 trees for customers to choose from.
“Getting to meet all the people and seeing how happy it makes them feel just to walk with their family around and pick their tree and bring their fur babies and walk around and let them pick their tree,” Hunt said.
The farm allows customers to walk around until they find their preferred tree.
Hunt said staff members help customers throughout the process and offer tips for tree care. She recommends knowing your ceiling height before selecting a tree.
She adds that trees should last through February if they’re properly maintained.
The farm had more than 300 visitors on Thanksgiving Day alone, with similar crowds continuing through Black Friday.
Hunt said the farm closes December 14th, but you can call for appointments if they still have trees.
