Monroe County, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says a man is facing murder and animal cruelty charges after a deadly shooting in Madisonville.
Deputies responded to a call about a violent disturbance between neighbors on Big Creek Road early Friday morning and found the victim, Adam McGill, dead along a driveway. A woman told deputies her neighbor, 60-year-old Gregory Scott Williams, went inside her home and shot her dog while nobody was home.
After finding the dead dog inside the home, McGill left on his motorcycle to confront Williams.
Williams admitted to deputies he shot the dog and later confronted McGill in the driveway and fired a rifle at McGill’s motorcycle hitting him in the abdomen, McGill died from his injuries.
Williams says the dog allegedly acted aggressive towards his wife earlier.
Williams is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated burglary to a residence and aggravated animal cruelty.
