Maryville, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – Maryville High School has dismissed early today (Wednesday) due to a gas leak.
The school closed at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) after that gas leak caused by construction.
Parents were sent an email from the school district saying: “Out of an abundance of caution, students and staff were safely moved outside while emergency personnel assessed the situation,” the email said. “At this time, students are not permitted to re-enter the building, and we will begin early dismissal.”
As it stands, dismissal will look like this:
Student Drivers: Dismissed to go home
Bus Riders: Busses have been contacted, the system said, and will be picking students up around 11 a.m.
Parent Pickup: Parents who want to pick up their students will need to use the car river line on Lawrence Avenue, under the canopy.
Communications and Special Programs Coordinator Maria Greene says no one was injured and all students are safe.
