UPDATE (11/6/25 6 A.M.) : COCKE CO, TN (WOKI / story courtesy of WVLT) – A student who is accused of making a bomb threat at Cocke County High School on Wednesday has been arrested, according to the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the high school received the bomb threat around 8 a.m. The school was evacuated and CCSO, along with various law enforcement agencies and K-9 Bomb dogs, searched the school.
CCSO says after a thorough search, no explosives were detected and the school resumed its normal activities.
According to the sheriff’s office, following a lengthy investigation, detectives arrested a 17-year-old male student from Cocke County High School for Threats of Mass Violence. He was transported to the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Center in Knoxville.

ORIGINAL STORY: COCKE CO, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – Students and staff at Cocke County High School are safe after the school received a bomb threat this (Wednesday) morning.
Cocke County Sheriff CJ Ball says his office and Homeland Security agents responded to the school out of an abundance of caution after a threatening note was found.
As of 9:30 a.m., Ball says students and staff are outside the building while law enforcement clears any possible threat.
