Alcoa, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – There’s an investigation underway following a fatal crash in Alcoa which was the second accident that day for the suspect.
The Alcoa Police Department is investigating the deadly two vehicle crash that happened Friday night on Williams Mill Road at Oak Hill Drive.
APD says 31-year-old Jesse Malone was driving an SUV on Williams Mill Road toward Old Knoxville Highway when the crash happened, he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The other vehicle involved, a van, was being driven by 33-year-old Ronald Weaver, who was found to have been involved in a separate crash on Old Knoxville Highway at Pellissippi Parkway, where he sideswiped another car and fled from the scene.
While leaving the scene of that crash, officials say Weaver turned onto Williams Mill Road and didn’t maintain his lane of travel on a blind curve, where he crashed into Malone’s car. Weaver was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash, two counts of reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, vehicular homicide and failing to maintain his lane of travel.
