MCMINN COUNTY, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) -McMinn County Schools and the district office will be closed today (Friday) following the death of McMinn County Director of Schools, Dr. Julie Goodin who passed away unexpectedly.
She began her role as Director of Schools this past July and and the system made the decision yesterday (Thursday) to close to allow students and staff time to grieve.
“As we grieve this tremendous loss, we ask that you join us in keeping Dr. Goodin’s family and friends in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” Melasawn Knight, Assistant Director of Schools said. “Thank you for your continued care and compassion as we support one another.”
The district says support services will also be available for students and staff who may need it in the coming days.
