Newport Officer Charged with Domestic Assault, False Imprisonment, Chief Says

Newport, TN (WVLT) A Newport Police Officer is facing charges after NPD officers had to respond to his house Monday.

According to NPD Chief Scott Lamb, Officer Brandon Cassady was charged with domestic assault and false imprisonment. He’s been suspended, Lamb said, and the department has started an internal investigation into what happened.

According to Cassady’s warrant, obtained by WVLT News, a Cocke County deputy also responded. The warrant said the deputy spoke to the victim, a woman WVLT has chosen not to identify, and she told him Cassady had held her down and wouldn’t let her leave the house.
