Knoxville, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – One firefighter is taken to the hospital suffering from heat exhaustion after a semi truck catches fire in the woods after veering off the road and closes down part of I-40 in West Knoxville.
Rural Metro Fire says the driver was uninjured after a semi-truck veered off of Interstate 40 and caught fire last night (Wednesday).
It happened around 6:30 p.m. in the woods off eastbound I-40 between N. Campbell Station Road and Lovell Road when the truck driver lost control, drove off the interstate and deep into the woods behind the Turkey Creek mall area before the truck caught fire.
The accident caused two lanes of eastbound I-40 to close down which have reopened.
