Knoxville, TN (WOKI) A Tennessee Board of Parole member votes to deny parole to Jesse Rogers, the man convicted in the 1993 murder of John Drummonds.
Drummonds was shot and killed of January of 1993 while another person was shot but survived. Rogers plead guilty to first-degree-murder and attempted murder in the case.
Board member Robert Waggoner voting Tuesday to deny Rogers parole while giving him a list of things to do to try to increase his chance of being granted parole in five years when he could be eligible again, according to a statement from the Tennessee Board of Parole.
The things that Waggoner asked of Rogers included:
- Complete educational and vocational programming
- Maintain positive institutional behavior
- Complete release plan that meets his mental needs
“The seven-member board will now independently review Mr. Rogers’ parole case and cast their individual votes. The Board can either adopt, reject or modify board member Waggoner’s recommendation,” the statement continued.
For Waggoner’s decision to become final, there will need to be four concurring votes from the full seven-member board.
