Knoxville Police say a convicted felon is back in jail after a theft and aggravated assault at a Dollar General.
Officers went to that store on Elm Street Monday afternoon and the store manager said a man, later identified as 42-year-old Johnny Carson, Jr., filled a basket with merchandise and left through the store’s emergency door and later threatened him after showing a handgun.
Officers found him and a woman in a car and searched the vehicle and found a backpack with a loaded gun.
Carson, who had several prior felony convictions, including for aggravated assault, is now charged with two counts of theft, one count of aggravated assault among other charges.
The woman, identified as Carla Koontz, is charged with driving on a revoked license.
