Clinton, TN (WOKI) UPDATE 10/7: The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the pedestrian killed after being struck by a train last week outside the city limits of Rocky Top.
ACSO officials say 33-year-old Candace Barnett of Caryville died in the incident October 2nd after she was struck by a train near the area of Mountain Side Lane at Ponderosa Lane just outside of Rocky Top.
The call of a train having hit a person came into the sheriff’s office around 10:00 p.m. that evening.
An investigation into Barnett’s death remains ongoing.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a person was killed by a train Thursday night.
ACSO officials say deputies were called to a report of a person struck by a train near Mountain Lane in Rocky Top.
According to officials, deputies arrived along with emergency medical personnel just after 10:00 p.m. and determined the pedestrian had died as a result of being hit by the train.
ACSO’s Criminal Investigation Division also responded to the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld until notification of next of kin.
