Knoxville, TN (WOKI) Charges are dropped Friday against a prominent Knoxville business owner and 10 others accused of trespassing on the University of Tennessee campus while protesting last year against the Israeli treatment of Palestinians in Gaza.
Yassin’s Falafel House owner Yassin Terou was among those arrested in May of 2024 during a Nakba Day Vigil at UT. The protestors were charged with criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, when they were arrested during the event on the UT Law School lawn.
The Knox County District Attorney’s Office says that the charges against all 11 people were dismissed upon the collective completion of a total of 100 hours of community service by the group.
