The McMinn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a shooting at a bar in Athens.
Authorities were called to the Double C Bar off of Highway 30 in Athens just after midnight Saturday after receiving a report of a shooting.
Investigators determined 24 year-old William Charles Thomas Sullivan had been asked to leave the bar by staff after making threats with a knife. Sometime later, the suspect fired shots at other bar patrons in the parking lot. When he was confronted by the bar owner, Randy Croft, the suspect reportedly fatally shot Croft before taking his truck and fleeing the scene.
After a pursuit involving MCSO, Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Sullivan was taken into custody in Meigs County.
Sullivan was charged with murder and is being held at the McMinn County Jail with additional charges are pending the investigation.
