Tennessee’s Tim Burchett Says He’s Joining President Trump’s DOGE Committee

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) One of East Tennessee’s congressmen announcing Tuesday he’s joining one of President Trump’s new committees.

Representative Tim Burchett, who represents Tennessee’s second congressional district in Washington, taking to social media to announce he’s joining DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency.

President Trump signed an executive order Monday, January 20 creating the non-governmental task force aimed at slashing federal jobs, programs and regulations.

Originally, the president had tabbed billionaire owner of X (formerly Twitter), Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk to head up the agency with Vivek Ramaswamy. Also on Monday, Ramaswamy bowed out of the cost-cutting initiative, signaling plans for an Ohio governor run.

Burchett hasn’t said what his role might be.
