Sevier County, TN (WOKI) In the wake of an investigation by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office, the director of Sevier County Central Dispatch has been placed on leave without pay.

A report from the Comptroller’s Office found that between July 2021 and March 2023 SCCD Director Todd Spence spent almost $10,000 on “questionable purchases” of various items including body armor, clothing, food and other items.

Investigators also found that Spence was teaching multiple first aid classes during working hours without reporting the hours as leave time.

An internal investigation is ongoing; currently, Spence is not facing charges.
