KPD investigators have identified a suspect after an overnight stabbing at an East Knoxville apartment complex Monday.

Officers arrived at The Vista Apartments just after midnight and discovered 47-year-old Marshall Nelson, on a staircase with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to UT Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Scott Erland with the Knoxville Police Department says that 56 -year-old Mark Venson of Knoxville, has been charged with second-degree murder. Anyone with information are being asked to report it to the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165
